12/08/17 - 0950hrs Daily report, California State Militia

* LA, CA: - Update – New fires south of LA towards San Diego have erupted overnight. The Liberty Fire is 300acres/ 10% contained. The Lilac fire is 4,100 acres/ 0% containment with 65 structures destroyed. The good news is that the winds have lessened some and the epic wind gusts that were predicted did not happen yet. Firefighters are starting to get containment of some of the larger fires around LA. There are still widespread Red Flag warnings for southern California. Be careful and safe if you are in that region. Nearly 200 homes have been destroyed so far and most fires still remain out of control. Drops of water and fire retardant have been used this morning as the winds died down but these flights could be grounded if the winds increase again (The winds are scheduled to return in a few hours), the Little Mountain Fire is 100 acres, Oak Fire is 99 acres/ 98% contained. Wildfires broke out late Monday spreading and growing quickly. Thomas Fire is by Ventura and is 132,000 acres/ 10% contained. The Creek Fire (15,323 acres/ 40% contained) and Wilson Fire have both broken out in Angeles National Forest, the Rye fire (6,049 acres/ 35% contained), The Skirball Fire is 475 acres/ 30% contained. The danger will increase for the next 24hrs as it looks like Santa Ana winds are likely to return. 27,000 residents were evacuated overnight. * Oakland, CA – The City employee strike that was supposed to be one day has entered its fourth day. The Oakland Mayor’s office has released what they say is a final offer before asking for mediation. * Washington, DC: President Trump has signed a 2-week spending bill to keep the federal government open through Dec 22nd. * Washington, DC: Senator Al Franken has announced he will resign due to sexual misconduct allegations. * The war against ISIS: A great article is up on a certain News page (should be easy to figure out but I am trying to stay neutral, for the record I review 4-6 separate news sources in looking for what I post for you all…and some of those are liberal sites). It is an opinion piece but openly talks about the fact that as President Trump came into office and changed the rules and the process for fighting ISIS, that created the direct result of pretty much obliterating the caliphate over the last year. As I have said before, ISIS is not done, they have returned to an organization of many cells with a reach into many countries from the Middle East to Africa and Indonesia as well as Europe and even here in the U.S. But the caliphate is destroyed, there central command and control is destroyed. Now we need to focus on eliminating the cells. I recommend the article as it may be one of President Trump’s largest and most successful campaign promises kept. Those of us that appreciate that should not let this pass unnoticed. -Warnings/ Advisories (NOAA) * Red Flag Warning: Kern County Mountains, Orange County Coastal, Orange County Inland; Riverside County Mountains-Including The San Jacinto Ranger District Of The San Bernardino National Forest; San Bernardino County Mountains-Including The Mountain Top And Front Country Ranger Districts Of The San Bernardino National Forest; San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys - The Inland Empire; San Diego County Coastal Areas; San Diego County Inland Valleys; San Diego County Mountains-Including The Palomar And Descanso Ranger Districts of the Cleveland National Forest; San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning; Santa Ana Mountains-Including The Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest, Santa Barbara County Mountains, Los Angeles County San Fernando Valley; Santa Clarita Valley; Ventura County Coast; Ventura County Coastal Valleys; Ventura County Interior Valleys, Los Angeles County Coast including Downtown Los Angeles; Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County Mountains, Angeles National Forest; Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area; Ventura County Mountains, Los Padres National Forest * High Wind Warning: Riverside County Mountains; San Bernardino County Mountains; San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire; San Diego County Inland Valleys; San Diego County Mountains; San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning; Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills * Wind Advisory: Ventura County Coast, Los Angeles County Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles County San Fernando Valley; Santa Clarita Valley; Ventura County Coastal Valleys; Ventura County Interior Valleys, Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Los Angeles County Mountains excluding the Santa Monica Range; Ventura County Mountains, Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley, -Weather (South Bay/ San Jose) * Sunrise - 0710hrs. Thought of the day: My dad is the type of person who puts together detailed lists. No, not just shopping lists or camping lists. Life planning lists. He is that “dad” that when you try to explain you are attempting to make a difficult decision he wants you to go create a list matrix of the positive and negatives for each outcome to help you decide. He believes in creating lists of goals as well. Goals for one year, goals for five years, goals for life, work, relationships… My father is actually very successful in all of those areas of life and many others…. I’m not a list person… so when I was younger, this type of advice usually created friction. As I got older though I realized the wisdom and tried to at least adapt the concepts to something that worked for me. Why do I tell you this? Because setting goals, in any way that works for us, motivates us. I used to think that setting 5 year goals was stupid…how would I know what I wanted in five years? When my wife and I bought our first home (a real fixer upper) I discovered how well 5 year plans could work. I set a 5 year plan for us to resell and get a larger home. I don’t know if it works subconsciously or how. But my wife and I both acknowledged it and through thick and thin, worked on our home, made it better and in 4 years we were able to sell and get a better home. Yes, there were many factors that came into play for all of that to work. I find myself again in some difficult life challenges now. Sorry dad, not making a nice multi-columned list of pluses and minus or goals. But, I am making lists in my head, I am setting benchmarks, goals, things to work for and towards that I can’t do overnight. I find for me that this helps move me towards completing goals instead of trying desperately to do it overnight or in a month. I get more done, I achieve more and I find success. That works for me. What works for you? Are you a list and graph person? A mental checklist person? A dream and a prayer person? (this used to be me before I had a wife and family). Keep your head on a swivel and stay safe -DeltaWhiskey
